RetroMUD is a MUD oriented toward mature adult users. As such, what
language
you choose to use in your private communication, such as party channels,
tells
and so forth, is your own business (within the limitations set forth by
other
rules, such as HELP HARASSMENT).

However, because we seek to create an open and welcoming environment to all
users, we ask that you refrain from excessive profanity or explicit sexual
conduct on public channels. Note that some exceptions for the profanity
rule
are made for the politics and fflchat channels (HELP RETRO CHANNELS).

Be aware that this rule is only very loosely enforced. Accidents happen,
and if
you observe an occasional instance of mild profanity on public channels, it
will most likely pass without comment. This does not mean that such is
officially condoned, only that we respect the ability of our users to self-
regulate, to judge what is appropriate and to try to show some sensitivity
for
differing cultural and social norms of other community members. Persons
using
particularly strong language or excessive amounts of milder language may be
asked politely to cease. Disciplinary action, such as temporary channel
bans,
is generally reserved only for excessive, flagrant and deliberate offenses.
