Ascended races are versions of the normal, mortal races, which are only available to remortals. They exist so that remortal players can continue to play as mortal races after remorting, if they so choose. They still get all the general perks of remorts, from extra stats and a higher max level to token slots, but they are generally weaker than remortal-exclusive races. Ascended members of races are exceptional individuals, more talented (higher skill and spell maxes) and less bound by cultural norms (no alignment restrictions) compared to other members of their race, which allows them to achieve traits and explore lifestyles usually unavailable to their kind. It has even been said that ascended uruks have been known to occur as females from time to time! Ascended individuals also learn slower, however, like other remortals (reduced exp rate), and their races are never as powerful as the remortal-exclusive races. Ascended members of races count as members of the same race for most purposes, and they share a common race leadership, although when vying for such a position, ascended race members are at a great advantage for their level, as they have usually lived and fought longer through both mortal and some remortal levels to reach their status. Members of ascended races that use race powers which would normally reduce their exp rate receive no penalty for doing so. See also: help race ascended |
