Certain effects, especially spells and race powers, can temporarily transform players into a new form. These temporary forms replace all aspects of the character's original race while leaving other features intact. The character's stats will adjust accordingly, becoming what they would have been if the character had leveled in the new form instead of the old one. Characters who were strong, smart, quick, tall or so forth by the standards of their original race will still be strong, smart, quick or tall by the standards of their new one. The new form may differ in any way, including heartbeat, number of limbs, powers, vulns, etc. The only exception is experience rate. The experience rate in the new form is always less than the character's original experience rate, reduced by an amount corresponding to how powerful the new form is. Characters can be returned to their original form via some spells (HELP SPELL RESTORE, HELP SPELL EXORCISM). Some transformations go away after a certain period. Others have powers that allow the character to transform back early willingly. CURSE FORMS: An exception to the above rules occurs with some temporary forms applied as curses. These transformations are debilitating effects and do not preserve aspects of the character's original stats. POLTERGEIST: Poltergeist changing with their pexpand power change stats differently. See: HELP PEXPAND. GHOSTS: A final exception is the ghost temp form. Ghosts act as curse forms, but the form is only obtained via death, and the only way to transform back is to return to life (HELP DEATH). |
