Scrolls are not something anyone can just read.  Scroll-writing is in a
magical script that only those who have trained the read magic skill (q.v.)
can comprehend.  The scroll's effect uses the reader's level as if he had 
cast the spell.  In some cases, if the scroll requires a component, the
scroll's effect may not work at all.  The scroll reader chooses the target
of
the spell by typing: use read magic at  on .  Note that
only
races who can speak can use scrolls and the scroll reader must not be 
silenced or blinded.  Use the name of the scroll to distinguish between
multiple scrolls in your inventory.

  It is also important to note that only a maximum of 5 magical scrolls can
be carried by a single person at a time, or the unstable nature of the
magic
will cause additional scrolls to explode.
